Coleen De Freitas - Your Labour Candidate for the Broadwater County Division Elections.

Why I’m standing as your candidate

I’m Coleen De Freitas, and I’m proud to be standing as your Labour Candidate for the Broadwater County Council Division election on Thursday 1st May.

Stevenage is in my DNA. I attended Longmeadow primary & Barnwell secondary and have worked in the town ever since.

Lots of people feel that our current Conservative County Councillor just hasn’t got anything done.

But I’m someone you can trust to get stuck in.

As a mum of four, serving as a newly elected Borough Councillor and a governor at two local primary schools – it’s all about family and community for me.

For too long, the Conservative-run County Council have let down our residents and schools and left roads, transport and social care to deteriorate. We all deserve so much better. It’s time to Heart Herts!

I want to be your champion on the County Council, fixing these issues one by one. It’s time to vote for change. And you can read my plan for change below!

My plan for change in Broadwater

1. Tackle the Cost of Living Crisis

I’ll push the County Council to invest in Stevenage, boost our local economy and leave more money in your pocket.

2. Be your champion on the County Council
It’s time to move on from unseen, unbothered Conservative County Councillors and elect a Councillor who cares about our community.

3. Introduce a SEND taskforce
We’ll set up a SEND taskforce of parents, schools and representatives to address the mess left by the Conservative County Council.

4. Crack down on anti-social behaviour
We’ll introduce a zero tolerance approach to anti-social behaviour, from enforcing fly-tipping fines to ensuring rapid police responses.

5. Finally fix Potholes
We’ll establish a road and transport improvement plan to tackle potholes and ensure we have reliable, affordable public transport.

SURVEY! Where are the worst potholes in Stevenage?

Conservative-run Hertfordshire County Council are in charge of repairing damaged roads and fixing potholes in Stevenage. They have COMPLETELY failed.

The two Conservative Councillors in charge of road repairs at Herts County Council are both from Stevenage, so where has the action been on unsafe roads and potholes? The reality is they are unbothered, unseen, and have been horrendously underfunded by previous Conservative Governments.

Tell us where the worst potholes are in Stevenage so Labour Candidates can start repairs if they’re elected on Thursday 1st May.

Labour candidates are pledging to use this survey and the extra £9.3 million road repairs funding for Hertfordshire from the Labour Government that our local MP Kevin Bonavia helped to secure to fix as many potholes as possible. 4/6 of Stevenage Councillors on Herts County Council are Conservative, so it’s really time for a change.

Help us fix the worst ones first by filling in the survey below:
