Women’s Officer Update
Following the Stevenage CLP AGM on Saturday 8th June, I was elected as the Women’s Officer for which I am deeply honoured and thankful to our members for giving me the opportunity to continue reaching out to encourage engagement of women in political discussion. We also now have Branch Women’s Officer’s whom I look forward to working with across the town. I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who put themselves forward, Sandra Barr and Arielle Bennett Lovell and congratulate them on being selected. As a team, I hope we can work to raise awareness of the many inequalities that exist between the genders and highlight this disfunctional Tory government in power at the moment. I recently came across a quote that resonated with me, by Mother Teresa – ‘I alone cannot change the world but I can cast a stone across the water to cause ripples’. I hope together, as Women’s Officer’s, we can ‘cause the ripples’ and help return a Labour Government into power. Hope to see you at the next Forum (6th July 10.30-12) Letters will follow.

Women’s Forum Strawberry Tea – in aid of Cancer Now Charity
I’d like to thank the women who joined us for our Strawberry Tea event this Saturday. I am pleased to report we raised, including from our raffle, a total of £74.42 in aid of Cancer Now and ate our way through some excellent scones made by our PPC candidate Jill Borcherds with strawberries, clotted cream and cupcakes. Thanks Jill! Truly overboard I know, but so worth it. We had a good discussion on a variety of topics and managed to finish on time to attend the AGM. A busy day for most of us.
Stevenage Day 60th Anniversary 9th June 2019
The sun did its very best and shone on the righteous! I’d like to think! What a beautiful day it was. Our Stevenage CLP stalls were a roaring success thanks to our Fundraising Agents; Cris and Lorrain Clarke’s enthusiastic commitment to create fun and interactive activities. On behalf of the Labour Women’s Forum I would like to thank all those who came to support us. We had some good conversations with the public and picked up a couple of new members for the Labour Party. The day ended with a little bit of rain but there was no dampening of our enjoyment. Well done everyone.
