We know these are worrying times for everyone as our country and our town faces the Coronavirus outbreak and the uncertainty that brings. We will all have our own concerns particularly those who care for the very young, older family members and friends, and those who are vulnerable for medical reasons. Our council is working very hard with our local Public Health team, medical practitioners, care organisations and the Lister Hospital to ensure that we have a co-ordinated response that has the best effect in supporting people through this pandemic. This work is being co-ordinated at local level through the Hertfordshire Resilience Forum.
You may be aware that the government has taken the very sensible decision to postpone the local elections which were due in May until May 2021. We believe this is the right decision to protect our community and our members from risk of infection.
We will not be carrying out our usual door-to-door activity or Labour councillors surgeries during the pandemic so we are circulating this note to share your councillors’ on-line and phone contact details with you. Please do not hesitate to contact your local councillors as usual if there is anything they can help with. We would also urge that you keep up to date with the latest news on Coronavirus by seeking information only from reliable sources like the NHS or Public Health England.https://www.gov.uk/government/topical-events/coronavirus-covid-19-uk-government-response
