Contact Simon Speller

Simon has lived in Shephall for nearly forty years. He and Bridy have brought up their four children at Shackleton Spring, and they have seven grand children who all live nearby.

As borough councillor and community volunteer Simon works with young people in schools, sports and scouting to develop their life skills and training opportunities for work. He also supports voluntary groups for carers and older people in Stevenage.

His local achievements include bringing the Canyon back into use for local scouts and the community. He is a champion of Fairlands Valley Park, and supports local environmental groups.

This past year Simon has been Mayor of Stevenage and his priorities have been to support young people and to promote the environment. As a keen local historian Simon organizes local walks and talks about Shephall and Stevenage New Town history. This year Simon chairs the Borough Planning Committee.

Before the Covid virus struck Simon worked closely with Shephall residents to support Shephall Fete and Broadwater Day. He has organized many environmental events in the Valley, including litter picks.

If elected for Shephall I will:-

▪ Campaign for clean streets and better pavements in Shephall, especially in and around  Valley Way

▪ Work with all Shephall schools and our young people to promote the environment and awareness of climate change

▪ When we can: Support local community events and facilities:  community gardens; Shephall Fete; Broadwater Day; The Canyon

▪ Be a voice with and for Shephall, to make sure we get the resources we need to regenerate our neighbourhood
