Sharon Taylor OBE
Labour and Coop candidate for Herts County Council (Bedwell Division)
Hello, I’m Sharon Taylor. It has been a great privilege to serve as your county councillor for the Bedwell division since 2008. Because of the Covid pandemic, we face greater challenges than ever to protect the county services we need from Tory cuts, so I am asking you to support me again to represent you at the County Council.
Stevenage is my home town, my parents moved here in the fifties and my sisters and I have grown up both in and with the town. I attended local schools and our local University of Hertfordshire. My three children have grown up in Stevenage and I am proud to still call Britain’s first new town my home.
You have told me about the impact on your lives of poor decisions made by the Tories who have been in charge at county hall, switching off our street lights, cutting bus services, the appalling state of our roads, cycle ways and footpaths, reduced opening hours at our household waste recycling centre and insufficient services for young people.
We have campaigned tirelessly on these issues, but the Tories have not listened. We need a Labour county council for Hertfordshire to change these.
I will always stand beside residents who are have their own battles with the county council. I have supported families appealing school places, campaigning for road safety measures, fighting for support with disabilities, support for children with special needs and for adequate care for elderly relatives.
I believe our Labour manifesto for the county council will deliver better services for you and your family and be better value for money.
I am asking for your vote on 6th May so that I can carry on working for you at county hall, listening to what you say and being a strong voice for every resident, family, business and community in our area.
