Sandra Barr for St Nicholas
Labour and Cooperative Party candidate for Saint Nicholas Ward, Stevenage

Hello, I am Sandra Barr, one of your Labour Councillors for St Nicholas ward. I’m going to be standing again as the Labour & Cooperative Party candidate in my beloved St Nicholas Ward.
I was born into a socialist family in London, moving to Royston as a child, so that my dad could have regular work. That move enabled my family to get decent housing, schooling and healthcare.
I moved to St Nicholas as a young wife and mother back in the days when the estate was new and shiny. I’ve watched it grow and thrive through the years under a strong Labour council. I have always defended my neighbourhood against any unfair criticism. St Nicholas is the sum of its parts: it is full of genuinely kind, salt of the earth residents and this is why I’ve chosen to live in St Nicholas for the past 50 years.
I joined the Labour Party in 1982. I have served as a school governor for 37 years, at 6 different schools, 36 of these years as Chair of Governors of Larwood school.
Over the last 12 years, I have seen its deteriorating infrastructure, which I believe is a consequence of cruel and harsh Tory social engineering. I’ve witnessed how the roads, footpaths, schools, social services and health care have all diminished under a cruel Tory administration. In contrast, Stevenage’s Labour Council has brought investment in jobs and services; is building new Council housing; and has a refurbishment programme for existing Council housing.
Please support me and my bid to keep my ward beautifully red and back Sandra for St Nicholas.
