Following the disgusting events in the States leading to the death of George Floyd and remembering those from our BAME community who have lost their lives through racism, on Sunday there will be an event happening in Stevenage to raise awareness of Black Lives Matter.
On Sunday 7th June at 4 pm on King George V playing fields, BeMe, a new Black Ethnic Minority Empowerment Group are holding a vigil for George Floyd and the many black individuals who have lost their lives in custody and through racism. The event is asking that we all wear masks and keep to government distancing rules. Minimum of 2 metres apart. We are aware this COVID 19 is x4 more likely to affect people from the BAME community so masks and distancing is vital for safety. Please remember this event is to remember those lives lost to racism and to raise awareness in a peaceful way.
