Labour and Cooperative candidate for Roebuck
Hello, I’m Allen Brown and I’m proud to have been selected as a Labour & Co-operative candidate for Roebuck. Roebuck is a big part of my life. My GP surgery and church are in Marymead. In Shephalbury Park I enjoyed many of my childhood days and where I went to Cubs/Scouts. To this day I still play there with Shephall Bowls Club.
I have been a Stevenage resident for over 66 years. I was educated at Heathcote school, where I also served as a governor for thirteen years until it closed to be joined to Barnwell. I launched and ran the independent Shephall Express, Stevenage only local bus company . I have also been a Director of Stevenage Credit Union and served on the committee of my church and the Stevenage Air Scouts. I am a member of the Bus Users Group Stevenage ( BUGS ) and University of the Third Age ( U3A ).
If privileged enough to be elected, I vow to represent the interests of all residents and will be particularly active in the following:
- Transport – by founding and running a bus company, I’ve learned how the local transport system operates, and I hope to bring that knowledge and hands-on experience to the Council.
- Housing is a big issue, made worse by Covid-19. Many people are facing difficult times ahead with housing problems. I will support the Council to keep it on top of its agenda.
- I will look to hold Herts County Council to account for the state of the roads in Roebuck.
- I will campaign to switch our street lights back on while we look for cost effective, environmentally friendly alternative lighting.
